2nd Man in Fatal State St. Shooting Sentenced to 25 Years to Life

The second of two men convicted in the shootings that killed two people outside a hookah lounge on State Street has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

25-year-old Marique Simkin, along with 33-year-old Henry Phelps III, was convicted of 2nd-degree murder and gun charges in November.

Prosecutors say Simkin killed Lonnie Keys Junior during the shootout in March 2022, while Phelps killed Charles Robinson and wounded Simkin.

Phelps was sentenced yesterday to 40 years to life in prison.
