A Wayne County farm worker detained by ICE has now been released from jail.
Dolores Bustamante was taken into custody last month during a routine check-in in Buffalo, despite having no criminal record.
Bustamante will still need to check in with ICE periodically, and ICE must give her written notice if they intend to re-detain her.
A removal order against her has been in place since 2020, and her appeals expired 3 years ago.
Her case has drawn local attention, with supporters rallying in Rochester and raising broader concerns about recent increases in immigration detentions across the region.
