Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Seeks to End Birthing Services

Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is seeking state permission to discontinue inpatient birth and newborn health care services.

The hospital is part of the Rochester Regional Health System, which says all other services, including emergency care, will remain open.

RRH says deliveries will move to Rochester General Hospital and other facilities.

The Newark OB/GYN office will stay open for prenatal and outpatient care before and after births.

RRH says it has a plan to walk each mother through the changes to ensure they get seamless care and is contacting patients who will be affected.
