UPDATE: Papers filed in Ontario County Court say the man whose body was found last weekend in a motel room on Routes 5 and 20 had been fatally stabbed.
Emmanuel Richelieu's body was found at the America's Best Value Inn in Geneva after deputies previously found his phone there.
Sheriff David Cirenciione said Richelieu had gone to Geneva on Wednesday for unknown reasons, and they began looking for him Friday night after his brother grew concerned and called them.
By that time, they believe Richelieu was most likely already dead.
Accused of murder is Julius Ware, a parolee who had been released from prison ten days before and was placed at the motel by the Parole Department to prepare his way for a return to life outside of prison.
Original story:
A Geneva man has pleaded not guilty to 2nd-degree murder this morning, in the death of another man at a Geneva hotel.
29-year-old Julius Ware was arrested in Geneva last night.
The body of 37-year-old Emmanuel Richelieu of Farmington was discovered in Ware's hotel room on Routes 5&20 on Saturday.
Richelieu's body had upper-body trauma -- it's been taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Ware had been paroled earlier this month on a burglary conviction.
