Lyons Man Charged in Assault with Garden Stakes

New York State Police say a Lyons man faces felony charges after a violent disturbance along State Route 14 Sunday.

Troopers allege 33-year-old Philip Michael Galek struck a man with a metal garden stake, then forced his way into a home and continued the assault.

Police say Galek later returned, chasing both a man and a woman into a garage and striking them with two metal stakes.

Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Galek was arrested without incident and charged with first- and second-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree assault.

He was taken to the Wayne County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
