Rochester General Hospital is reviewing its security after a gun was pulled inside the hospital last week.
Police say a man trying to remove his brother from care made it to the fourth floor, where he pointed a gun at staff.
A hospital security officer drew his weapon and de-escalated the situation within minutes.
In a statement today, the hospital says its weapons detection system alerted, but the man did not comply with screening and got inside.
Officials now say security procedures and staffing levels are under review, while a union representing nurses calls current protections inadequate.
