Wegmans Food Markets has once again been recognized as one of the best places to work in the country, ranking fifth on Fortune Magazine’s 2026 “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. The Rochester, New York-based supermarket chain earned this honor based on confidential feedback from more than 1.3 million employees nationwide and thorough human resources data analysis, according to reporting by the Democrat & Chronicle.

To qualify for the list, companies must employ more than one thousand people and be certified as a Great Place to Work. Employee surveys measure factors like engagement, respect, and support in the workplace. The survey platform, operated by Great Place to Work and Fortune Media, analyzes employee responses alongside HR information to determine the rankings as explained by News 4 Buffalo.

This year marks the twenty-ninth time Wegmans has appeared on the prestigious list. Colleen Wegman, president and CEO of the company, said, "We are incredibly honored to once again be recognized as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. Our people continue to bring our values to life in ways that create a true sense of belonging—where everyone is respected, supported, and appreciated for who they are." She added, "We couldn't be more proud of our employees for the passion and care they bring every day" as reported by WSYR-TV.

Wegmans plans to celebrate the recognition at all of its stores on Friday (April 4) at 11 a.m. by serving mini cupcakes to customers and staff. The company continues to focus on maintaining a supportive environment for both employees and shoppers, reinforcing its reputation as a great place to work.
