Fmr. Fire Company Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Stealing $75K

A former fire company treasurer has pleaded guilty to stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a volunteer department in Ontario County.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says Jill Havens, the former treasurer of the Citizens Hose Company in Shortsville, stole nearly $75,000 over four years.

Investigators say she used company funds for personal purchases and then altered financial records to hide the theft.

Havens has already paid $40,000 in restitution, with the balance due at sentencing.
