A Rochester man charged in an alleged hate-motivated attack was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
Police say 43-year-old Alexander Ortiz assaulted a man on Monroe Avenue in June of 2024 while shouting homophobic slurs.
In a separate incident, Ortiz allegedly struck a pedestrian with his car, and he later lashed out at the judge during his arraignment.
Ortiz was originally charged with assault as a hate crime and leaving the scene of an accident.
