The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is now investigating after a deputy fatally shot a dog.
They say the deputy went to do a welfare check at a home on Stone Road in Pittsford last evening, when a dog got loose.
The deputy was bitten in the leg and suffered a puncture wound before shooting the dog twice.
That deputy was treated and released.
The person who prompted the welfare check was also taken to the hospital.
