Rochester to Get $2Mil for Daniel's Law Pilot Program

The City of Rochester will get $2 million in state money for a Daniel's Law pilot program.

The money will go to the city’s Person In Crisis team, which responds to mental health crisis calls.

That will allow the PIC team to hire peer navigators to facilitate follow-up services after an initial call.

Groups in Nassau and Jefferson counties will also get the same funding for similar programs.

Daniel's Law is named for Daniel Prude, who died following a drug-fueled mental crisis and an encounter with Rochester Police in March of 2020.
