A former corrections officer will serve 25 years to life in prison for the prison beating death of area inmate Robert Brooks.
David Kingsley was convicted of murder and manslaughter in October.
Brooks was assaulted by several guards, including Kingsley, less than an hour after arriving at Marcy Correctional Facility just over a year ago.
He died the next day.
Ten officers were charged: seven took plea deals, two were acquitted, and one goes to trial next month.
