A Rochester woman has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $13,000in state pension benefits that were sent to her deceased mother.
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Monroe County District Attorney Brian Green say 68-year-old Karen Walsh failed to report her mother's death to the state pension system in 2020.
She kept receiving and pocketing her mother's benefits, forging her mother's signature on the checks.
She pleaded guilty in city court and will have to pay back the money.
