Area Teacher Sentenced on Child Porn Charges

A former Rochester-area teacher is going to prison.

Federal prosecutors say 45-year-old Kevin Burns of Rochester will serve four-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of possessing child porn involving a young child.

A porn file uploaded to Bing Image last year led to a search warrant on Burns' home in Irondequoit, where more than 450 images were found on his computer.

Some images depicted violence against children.

Pittsford school officials have confirmed Burns worked in the district.

In a letter to families, Superintendent Michael Pero said there have been no complaints of inappropriate conduct involving any district students.

Burns worked as a substitute teacher in the district for 15 years.

He left about a year before his arrest.
