Rochester Man Arrested in Violent Carjacking, Chase

Several people are hurt, including an RPD officer and a 10-year-old boy, after a violent carjacking and chase on Rochester's north side.

Police say a 41-year-old city man hit the victim from behind with an unknown object on Van Stallen Street yesterday afternoon, then took off.

The suspect then crashed into two cars in Saint Paul Street, then struck a tree.

He was caught while trying to run away.

One officer was hospitalized with a leg injury, while the boy is expected to recover.

The suspect was also hurt in the foot chase, and charges are pending.
