Rochester PAB to Appeal Court Ruling

Rochester's Police Accountability Board will appeal a ruling that took away most of its investigative powers.

A State Supreme Court judge ruled last week the PAB can no longer investigate misconduct, issue subpoenas, recommend discipline, or publicly release findings.

The PAB was approved by voter referendum in 2019, but court rulings have chipped away at its power to probe alleged police misconduct.

As it stands, the PAB can only make recommendations on police department policy.
