Federal prosecutors say a Fairport man has been arrested on charges of enticement and possession of child porn after two incidents that happened this spring.
They say 40-year-old Tony Rodriguez was arrested after an online group that exposes child predators contacted the Fairport Police Department after engaging in online conversations with him.
Prosecutors say Rodriguez believed he was talking with an 11-year-old girl, and the conversation quickly turned sexual.
Rodriguez sent lewd pictures and offered to meet up for sex.
Instead, he was confronted by members of the group in an incident that led to police being called by concerned citizens.
Monroe County authorities were then contacted by another volunteer group that monitors predators online.
He again thought he was talking with a young girl, but was detained by deputies when he went to meet her.
Investigators found Rodriguez using the online gaming platform Roblox to contact young girls, as well as Instagram and Reddit.
Rodgriguez has appeared in federal court and was ordered detained.
