No Bail in Henrietta Shooting that Wounded 9-Year-Old Boy

The man accused of shooting a 9-year-old boy at a Henrietta convenience store over the weekend remains in jail without bail.

35-year-old Ruben Smith is charged with assault and gun crimes.

Chief Deputy Michael Fowler says the boy and his father were bystanders as the store owner tried to get the gun away from Smith.

The boy was hit in the upper chest by one of two rounds Smith fired in the struggle, but is expected to recover.

Smith is a repeat felon.
