2nd Monroe Jail Deputy Charged in Jail Fight Probe

A second Monroe County jail deputy has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation that began with reports of jail guards allowing fights between inmates.

Dominic Denaro is not accused of those offenses, but the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says he tipped off inmates before their cells were searched, compromising the safety of incarcerated individuals and all jail staff.

Denaro has been charged with Official Misconduct and Obstruction of Government Administration.

Both crimes are misdemeanors.

Denaro was arraigned in Monroe County Court and released on his own recognizance.

Denaro worked for the sheriff's office for barely a year.

He was hired in January of 2024, and submitted his resignation in December shortly after the investigation began.

Three deputies remain suspended as the investigation continues, and former Deputy Dominic Kujawa was charged last week with assault and official misconduct.
