A tenth corrections officer has been arraigned in the deadly prison beating of Robert Brooks.
33-year-old Nicholas Kieffer surrendered to State Police and appeared in handcuffs in Oneida County Court in Utica.
He pleaded not guilty.
As with a number of the other suspects he was charged with 2nd-degree murder, and bond was set at $250,000, which he met.
Prosecutors say Kieffer was among the officers who viciously assaulted Brooks in December at Marcy Correctional Facility near Utica, shortly after Brooks arrived there.
Brooks died the next day, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Nine others were arraigned Thursday: 5 on murder charges, 3 on manslaughter, and one on evidence tampering.
