Rochester Parolee Sentenced to Life in Prison For Killing Former Boss

A parolee found guilty of shooting a Gates business to death will spend life without parole behind bars.

48-year-old Malik Black was found guilty last month of first-degree murder and a gun crime.

Police say he shot his former boss, Jessica Romich, to death in September 2023 outside her business on Pixley Industrial Parkway.

At the time of the shooting, Black was on parole from a 1993 shooting death in Rochester.

He was paroled in 2020.
