2 Accused of Abandoning Pets in Geneva Apartment, 2 Cats Die

Two people are accused of abandoning several pets in a Geneva apartment.

County Humane Society officials say 39-year-old Joseph Shantz and 21-year-old Naomi Sharp left several cats and a rabbit inside a Rose Street apartment.

Two cats were discovered dead inside.

A necropsy found they died of dehydration and neglect.

Shantz and Sharp are charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Two other cats and the rabbit are recovering at the animal shelter.
