Police say two people face gun, drug and endangering the welfare of a child charges, after they tried to conceal suspected drugs underneath a child.
RPD made a traffic stop on Avenue D, and the vehicle turned down Harris Street and crashed into a fire hydrant.
Police say they found suspected cocaine and fentanyl throughout the vehicle, including underneath one of two small children in the back seat.
The driver, 43-year-old Chevas Johnson, is charged with 2 gun charges, drug charges and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Police say he was also a repeat unlicensed driver.
The mother of the children, 34-year old Ashley Mitchell, is also charged with criminal weapons possession, drug possession and child endangerment.
The 6- and 7-year-old were checked out a the hospital and released to a family member.
Johnson and Mitchell were taken to Monroe County Jail.
