Ryan Corbett and family

A Dansville man imprisoned in Afghanistan for nearly 2-and-a-half years is coming home.

The family of Ryan Corbett confirms he is being released by the Taliban in a prisoner exchange.

Corbett had traveled to Afghanistan in August 2022 to renew his visa and pay the staff at his non-profit when he was detained.

He had reportedly been in poor health, while tortured and threatened, malnourished, and denied medical care

In a statement, Corbett's family thanks both the Trump and Biden Administrations for their role in his release, as well as Qatari mediators.

They also say they're grateful he'll be on the way back to the U.S. after nearly 900 days in captivity.
