Man Guilty of Shooting East Rochester Officer

A 52-year-old Rochester man has been convicted by a Monroe County Jury of shooting an East Rochester Police officer.

The District Attorney's office says Raymond Noel was found guilty of attempted aggravated murder, attempted aggravated assault on a police officer and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Noel fired on East Rochester officer Brad Steve while police were investigating a call to an apartment on Garfield Street.

Noel was carrying a handgun and ignored orders to drop it.

He shot at Officer Steve six times and the officer fired back twice, being saved by his bulletproof vest.

Noel will be sentenced in January, and faces a maximum penalty of 40-years-to-life
