2 Plead Guilty in Genesee County Deputy's Death

Two suspects accused of causing the death of a Genesee County Deputy have pleaded guilty.

Michael Elmore and Lyndsey Wilcox both appeared in Genesee County Court, each accepting plea deals for the March 10th incident at Batavia Downs.

Elmore plead guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaugter, and Wilcox to second-degree assault. Elmore faces 20 years in prison at sentencing.

Sergeant Thomas Sanfratello was escorting Elmore and Wilcox out of Batavia Downs for causing a disruption in the bar.

Elmore re-entered the building and hit the deputy over the head with a metal chain, then put him in a chokehold.

Sanfratello collapsed as he tried to use his Taser against his attacker.

Life saving measures were unsuccessful, and Sanfratello was pronounced dead.

Sanfratello was 54 and a 32-year-veteran of the Genesee County Sheriff's Department.
