Rochester Man Sentenced for Throwing Fireworks During Prude Protests

A Rochester man who admitted in court to throwing fireworks at police during the Daniel Prude demonstrations in September 2020 will serve just shy of 3 years in prison.

24-year-old JohnMichael Santiago pleaded guilty in federal court in May to civil disorder and assaulting a federal officer.

Prosecutors say Santiago also assaulted two corrections officers at Livingston County Jail, giving one a back injury and the other a concussion.
