Special Events Zone map (photo RPD)
Rochester Mayor Malik Evans is outlining how the City plans to keep troublemakers out of the city's East End entertainment district.
It's being designated a “Special Event Zone” to keep bar and restaurant patrons safe on Saturday nights.
Evans is using his authority under the City's Gun Violence State of Emergency to enact the zone.
Starting tomorrow night, between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., pedestrians can enter the Special Event Zone at four locations, where they will get a wristband.
Photo ID is required and people under 21 will be turned away.
Backpacks and large bags will be prohibited.
East Avenue will be closed between Alexander and South Union streets.
