Former FireCompany Treasurer Accused of Stealing $100,000

The former treasurer of an Ontario County fire company is accused of stealing $100,000 from it.

Authorities say Jill Havens made personal purchases with funds from Citizens Hose Fire Company between 2018 and 2022, then altered financial records to cover it up.

Havens is charged with grand larceny.

She also served as Manchester Town Clerk during the same time, and a probe into her conduct in that position is underway.

The company's previous treasurer, Wendy Wharton, was also convicted of grand larceny in 2019, for embezzling $20,000.
