Golisano Announces $360 Million in Grants to Upstate Nonprofits

Tom Golisano, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and civic leader, today announced an unprecedented and historic series of major awards totaling $360 million to 82 non-profit organizations in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse, New York. This commitment nearly doubles Golisano’s lifetime giving, bringing the total to $775 million, with more to be expected. Billionaire philanthropist Tom Golisano is giving out big money to nonprofit groups Upstate.

Speaking at his Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship in Brighton, he announced $360 million in grants for schools and community organizations in the Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse areas.

He says he hopes these groups will put the money to good use.

The grants will be doled out to the non-profits over a 4- to 5-year period.

Over 80 organizations will benefit.
