UPDATE: Irondequoit Police Say Family Was Murdered Prior to Fire

Police in Irondequoit aren't saying how a family of four was killed, but Police Chief Scott Peters calls it a "horrific" scene, the worst he's seen in his career.

Peters says the investigation at the crime scene on Knapp Street was very thorough.

The house was on fire Saturday morning when the bodies were found in the basement.

Peters says it was clear the family had been murdered.

The victims are Fraime Ubaldo, Marangely Moreno-Santiago, their four-year-old daughter Evangeline, and two-year-old son Sebastian.

Peters isn't speculating on a motive.

The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
