A Steuben County father and son are facing charges in the January 6th Capitol Riot.

Federal prosecutors say 53-year-old Charles Schimmel Senior and 23-year-old Logan Schimmel were among the first rioters inside the Capitol Building as the chaos broke out.

They stayed inside the building for an hour.

The two were identified in surveillance footage.

Once they left the building, the two Prattsburgh men remained on the Capitol grounds for 2 more hours, at one point leaning against police riot shields to try to keep police from pushing the rioters back.

Both men are facing felony obstruction of law enforcement and several misdemeanors.
