A fomer village treasurer in Steuben County has been sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, as expected.
Prosecutors say Ursula Stone pocketed more than a million dollars in public funds while she was the Village Treasurer in Addison.
The thefts spanned nearly two decades and were discovered when the state Comptroller's office began an audit in 2022.
She pleaded guilty this spring and her sentence includes a full restitution order, along with the forfeiture of her pension.
Stone is the first convicted public official in New York to lose her public pension.
The forfeiture law was added to the state Constitution in 2018.
