Man Hit by Vehicle, Killed on Rt. 390 Identified

UPDATE: Authorities have named the pedestrian who was struck and killed late Tuesday night on Route 390.

Investigators say 63-year-old Daniel Burke, of Rochester, was struck after he had been involved in an earlier accident and got out of his car.

He had rear-ended an ambulance on the expressway near Chili Avenue, then continued north and hit a guardrail and a sign, before he got out of the car and stepped in to the traffic lanes near Lyell Avenue.

New details on a fatal pedestrian crash on Route 390.

It happened around midnight in the northbound lanes, just north of Lyell Avenue.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the victim's car rear-ended an ambulance on 390 at Chili Avenue.

He then drove away, before hitting a guardrail and a sign.

He then got out and walked into the road, where he was hit.

The man died at the scene.

His name is being withheld for now.

Deputies are still looking for the driver.
