A Hopewell man accused of neglecting horses at his barn is now accused of pointing a shotgun at deputies.

72-year-old Alan Scrivener is now charged with menacing a police officer.

Deputies say he threatened deputies during a welfare check at his home Sunday.

A SWAT team came back to arrest Scrivener yesterday, following a 5-hour standoff after he refused to respond to a request to surrender.

Scrivener still faces misdemeanor charges after County Humane Society investigators found the remains of three horses at his property last month.

Five more horses were standing in huge piles of manure in two corrals and showed signs of years of neglect.
