Rochester Woman Accused of Stealing Dead Grandmother's Pension Checks

A Rochester woman is accused of stealing over $120,000 worth of state pension checks intended for her late grandmother.

Elona Roberts faces grand larceny and filing a false instrument.

The State Comptroller's office says the pension system continued to issue checks after Roberts's grandmother passed away in 2017.

Roberts allegedly forged her grandmother's signature on them and deposited them into her bank account.

Roberts is due back in court later this month.
