A man will serve 15 years to life in prison for severely abusing a 3-year-old child in his care last September.
Shavar Canty was found guilty of assault.
Prosecutors say Canty dunked the child into hot water at home on Barberry Terrace.
The child arrived at Rochester General with severe burns and a broken leg.
Canty was sentenced as a persistent violent felony offender.
