Rochester Man Sentenced in East Ave. Homicide

A Rochester man who took a plea deal in a homicide in Rochester's East End will serve 14 years in prison.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Gregory O'Neal shot and killed 25-year-old Michael Mathis during an argument at a food cart near the corner of East Avenue and Union Street in January of last year.

Mathis was the same man who was found not guilty in the 2015 triple homicide outside the Boys and Girls Club, and police believe the argument involved those homicides.

O'Neal pleaded guilty to 1st-degree manslaughter last month.
