The police chief in the Village of Avon has been suspended without pay.
Chief Joseph Geer was notified last month the state Comptroller was looking into bookkeeping issues in his department.
Around the same time, the Avon school district was notified of an FBI investigation believed to involve discrepancies in billing by a provider for school resource officer work.
He remained on the job, until yesterday when the mayor announced the suspension at an emergency town board meeting.
Geer had his gun and village car confiscated.
