Newark Man Accused of Injuring Monroe County Deputy

A Newark man is accused of injuring a Monroe County Deputy during a foot chase.

32-year-old William Cook allegedly took merchandise from the Perinton Wegmans.

Deputies say Cook fought with them when they caught up to him on Swan Trail.

Cook is charged with assault, resisting arrest, and petit larceny.

He was wanted on a warrant for possession of stolen property.

One deputy suffered an eye injury, but was treated and released.
