Greece Police Officer Sues Town for "Retaliation"

A former Greece Police sergeant says the Town retaliated against him, for blowing the whistle on the now-former Police Chief's drunken crash.

Bryan Root took photos of Drew Forsythe's SUV, following the crash in October 2021.

In a new lawsuit, Root claims he was suspended for 30 days after that, then was passed over for promotion 11 times.

Root resigned last October, while under investigation for allegedly spending too much time at home during his shifts.

Root claims the Town removed him with cause, meaning he can't get another law enforcement job.

But in a statement, Town Supervisor Bill Reilich says the state is responsible for invalidating Root's training certification, not the town.

Root is seeking back pay and benefits.
