The New York State Senate and Assembly this afternoon approved a new set of Congressional district maps, after Democratic majorities rejected Congressional district maps drawn by the Independent Redistricting Commission.
The new plan makes what one lawmaker described as a "handful of minor tweaks" from the IRC plan.
Democrat Kenneth Zebrowski said the changes between the Democrat's plan and the IRC plan may be minimal, but they're important.
In at least three cases, they keep counties from being divided between multiple districts...
The redistricting plan now goes to Governor Kathy Hochul for her approval.
