A Cayuga County man is accused of kidnapping a Newark woman, strangling her, and stealing her car during a domestic assault.
Police say Chad McDonald went to the woman's apartment Sunday and punched her in the head several times.
He then allegedly forced the woman into her car and drove off.
The woman was apparently able to escape when McDonald briefly stopped the car.
McDonald was arrested at his home Tuesday.
He's charged with robbery, grand larceny, and strangulation, and he was wanted on a warrant for a previous domestic assault.
