Hochul Signs Bill to Hold Local Elections in Even Years

Governor Hochul has announced she has signed a bill moving elections for local offices from odd years to even years.

Supporters say the change will put those races in front of more voters, because they will be on the same ballot as the races for president or governor.

But critics say the change will mean the campaigns for local offices won't get the attention they get when they are held in odd years.

The change is expected to boost the fortunes of Democrats, who do a better job turning out their voters in even years.
