Fmr. Irondequoit Police Chief to Serve 6 mos. in Prison

Former Irondequoit Police Chief Alan Laird will serve 6 months in federal prison.

He and business partner Steven Rosenbaum will also serve 6 months of house arrest and pay a $10,000 fine plus restitution.

Prosecutors say the two failed to report income subject to hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes for their security firm, Swoop 1.

The two men admitted filing false tax returns for the firm from 2016 to 2021 and admitted paying their part-time guards under the table, allowing them to avoid income tax.

Laird retired as the chief in Irondequoit last fall.
