New Date Set for Williams Murder Trial

UPDATE: A new trial date has been set for the man accused of raping and killing 14-year-old Wendy Jerome on Thanksgiving night 39 years ago.

The murder trial of Timothy Williams ended last week in a mistrial, because of misconduct by at least two jurors.

Authorities still haven't said what the jurors did.

The new trial is set to start on February 27.

Williams is 59 years old.

Original story:

The judge has declared a mistrial in the trial of Timothy Williams for the 1984 killing of teenager Wendy Jerome.

Judge Thomas Moran blamed juror misconduct, and reportedly said in court, "You did exactly what I told you not to do" and added, "Nobody pays attention to rules anymore."

The dead girl's family was heard crying in the courtroom after the announcement.

Williams is accused of raping and fatally beating Jerome on Thanksgiving night 39 years ago.

He became a suspect in 2020 after DNA from the crime scene was connected to his relative's DNA in a database.
