State, Seneca Nation Agree to Short-Term Gaming Compact Extension

Governor Kathy Hochul and the President of the Seneca Nation met in Buffalo today, and say they've signed an extension of the current gaming compact between the Senecas and New York State.

The compact was set to expire December 9th.

The extension will run through March 31st, and will automatically renew unless one of the parties decides not to.

In the meantime, both sides will continue meeting on a new long-term gaming compact.

The statement released by the Governor and by Seneca President Rickey Armstrong says nothing about a possible Rochester casino.

Word that such a casino had been discussed some months ago upset Rochester elected officials who were left out of the discussions.
