Brockport Man Pleads Guilty in Investment Scam

A Brockport man has pleaded guilty to his part in a multi-million dollar investment scam.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 60-year-old Halford Johnson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit securities fraud.

Prosecutors say Johnson conspired with another man named Darin Pastor to defraud multiple investors through a company called Creative App Solutions.

From the fall of 2013 through the spring of 2018, Johnson and Pastor used Creative App and another company they owned to make themselves appear wealthy, and make it appear that investors would see their money used to fund business deals in Asia.

Instead, they used millions in investor money to pay for personal expenses and lavish lifestyles.

Pastor died earlier this year after he and Johnson paid back some $ 6.7 million of the nearly $ 20 million they cost investors.
