The City of Rochester and the union representing city firefighters have reached an agreement on a contract.
It includes a trial period in which the department will switch to a 24-hour working schedule.
The current schedule consists of three ten-hour days, two days off, three 14-hour night shifts, then four days off.
The RFD says the new schedule will consist of working a 24 hour shift, two days off, 24 hours on, then four days off.
The schedule will take effect in January.
