Rochester City Councilmember Willie Lightfoot has announced he intends to run for the 137th State Assembly District seat.
Lightfoot is in his 2nd term on the City Council, and also served 10 years on the County Legislature.
Lightfoot says his main focus is stamping out gun violence in the community.
Demond Meeks currently holds the 137th District seat, and longtime Assemblymember David Gantt also held the seat.
